Goalkeeping is one of the most unique positions in soccer, if not the most! Special attention is needed to this position that often gets overlooked or under judged.

Get A Grip Goalkeeping provides goalkeeper education and training from those who know the position and the game extremely well. All of our trainers have either played collegiate or professional level soccer and are licensed coaches.

Emphasis is placed on understanding the philosophy of goalkeeping, teaching proper technique and examining the tactical applications of the position.

Founding Director of Get A Grip Goalkeeping

Bryan Alper is originally from Long Island, New York, where he began goalkeeping with the East Meadow Celtics when he was 10 years-old.  After moving to South Florida when he was 12 years-old, he began to gain more experience and confidence with goalkeeping on his new travel soccer team and then with his middle school soccer team.  Goalkeeping and soccer started to become more than just a sport, but a strong  sense of identity that he would carry with him.

His playing experiences would include twelve years of youth club soccer, mainly with the East Meadow Celtics and the Sunrise Blast, one year with Florida’s U-17 Olympic Development Program (ODP), three years with South Florida Select Programs and four years of high school varsity soccer at JP Taravella High School in Coral Springs.  These youth level playing experiences led to three years of collegiate level soccer in the NCAA D1 Trans American Athletic Conference for the University of Central Florida Golden Knights and also two seasons of semi-professional soccer in the USISL’s southeastern conference with the South Florida Future.

Fast forwarding until about now, Alper has mainly lived in Atlanta, Georgia for about the last 15 years and has continued to stay involved and committed to soccer.  He has also played and coached in Greenville, South Carolina and Asheville, North Carolina, where he lived for recent periods of time (2012 – 2014).  Alper has now played soccer for almost 35 years and coached for almost 20 years.

Alper has an NSCAA regional goalkeeping license and has coached with youth soccer organizations including the Coral Springs Storm, Team Boca United FC, Decatur DeKalb YMCA, Stars Soccer Club, Atlanta Soccer Academy, National Soccer Trainers, Newnan Cannons, Georgia Olympic Development Program, Carolina Elite Soccer Academy, Asheville Buncombe Youth Soccer Association, Academe of the Oaks and currently with Roswell Soccer Club.
