To hold accountability to each goalkeeper, here is an idea to keep him or her committed.  This is the “I’m a Keeper” GK Journal.  Within Get a Grip GK training sessions, goalkeepers will be encouraged to submit “I’m a Keeper” GK Journal homework assignments (via his or her parents).

The “I’m a Keeper” GK Journal’s main purpose is to track a goalkeeper’s progress.  All “I’m a Keeper” GK Journal visitors will see other posts, like theirs, and be able to compare and contrast with other goalkeepers.  We ask that you to take these same questions that  have been answered from the beginning of a season and answer them again  at the end of the season.  With each goalkeeper and his or her parents and coach, we will review these questions and answers and look at what has changed (or not changed) from season to season.

Parents and your kids should be aware that goalkeeping is a true commitment that takes dedication and patience.  Be reminded that goalkeeping is not just a position for showing up to here and there or for starting half way through a season and then stopping and starting again months later.  It is OK to have a little bit of inconsistency, but we want to try to stay as  consistent as possible.  One lesson will lead to the next.  It is a developmental process with foundational steps that will begin to add up and exponentially take flight.

Thanks again for visiting Get a Grip Goalkeeping’s website and the “I’m a Keeper” GK Journal.  We encourage goalkeepers to take their  level of goalkeeping to new heights as they get a grip goalkeeping!

Thanks,

Coach Bryan
